The 81 countries
TWAS has identified 81 developing countries whose capacity in science and technology is still lagging.

For this reason, TWAS is focusing special attention on capacity-building efforts in these countries. For example, only individual scientists and research groups located in one of the following countries can apply for support under the TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences:
