Bahri currently serves as Professor at the National Research Institute for Rural Engineering, Water and Forestry. She was the Coordinator of the African Water Facility (AWF/AfDB) from June 2010 to June 2015. She was director for Africa, International Water Management Institute (IWMI), based in Accra, Ghana, from September 2005 to May 2010. Prior to that, she was director of research, National Research Inst. for Agricultural Engineering, Water and Forestry, Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture. She studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie in Toulouse, and obtained doctorates from Institut National Polytechnique, Toulouse, and Lund Univ., Sweden. Her honours include the Guinness Award for Scientific Achievement; IFS/King Baudouin Award, IFS, Stockholm; Kuwait Prize in Applied Sciences (Waste Recycling), KFAS; and the 2009 Prof. C.N.R. Rao Prize for Scientific Research. She is an elected member of the International Water Academy in Oslo and the African Academy of Sciences.
