Krickeberg is retired professor of exceptional class of the University of Paris V (since 1998). After having earned his Dr.rer.nat. from the Humboldt-University of Berlin and his Habilitation from the University of Würzburg, he held full professorships at the Universities of Heidelberg and Bielefeld and visiting full professorships at the Universities of Aarhus and Columbia University, New York. He was President of the Bernoulli Society for Probability and Mathematical Statistics. He has worked extensively in Latin America and South East Asia, both in mathematical statistics and in public health. His honours include: Fellow, Institute of Mathematical Statistics, USA; Dr. (h.c.), University of Vienna and National University of Ho Chi Minh City; member, Germany Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina); Medal of Merit, Vietnamese Ministry of Health; Honorary Professor, Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Current work: Public Health in Vietnam (teaching, counseling, research).
