  • 14: Deadline to apply for the TYAN-YSN International Thematic Workshop on Cancer Research, 2nd TYAN International Thematic Workshop, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The workshop will include talks on the latest technological advancements in precision medicine, drug discovery and digital technologies, but will also focus on areas of collaborations, grant opportunities, and mentoring for the building of scientific leadership in cancer research in the region.   • 15: Closing date of the 2018 Call for New Members to join the Global Young Academy. Applications are sought from young, independent scholars who combine the highest level of research excellence with a demonstrated passion for delivering impact.
  • 15: Deadline to submit nominations for the Abel Prize 2019. The Abel Prize, amounting to NOK 6 million, recognizes outstanding scientific work in the field of mathematics, including mathematical aspects of computer science, mathematical physics, probability, numerical analysis and scientific computing, statistics and applications of mathematics in the sciences.   • 17-19: 17th CAS-TWAS-WMO Forum, in Beijing, China. The workshop focuses on the state of the art of nowadays ecohydrological studies in understanding the fundamental mechanisms underlying the climate-soilwater-vegetation coupling system. For details, please see:
  • 31: Deadline to submit nominations for the 2019 OWSD-Elsevier Foundation Awards for Early Career Scientists. The eligible fields for 2019 are the biological sciences: agriculture, biology and medicine. Each winner receives a cash prize of USD 5,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.   • 25: Deadline to sumbit proposals for the Stars in Global Health: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights by Grand Challenges Canada. Successful proposals will be awarded grants up to CAD$100,000 for a period of up to 12 months.

  • 2-7: Young Scientists Conference on Genomics and Human Health in Africa, in Khartoum, Sudan. The conference will bring together a group of talented young African scientists to present their latest research activities in the rapidly advancing field of Genomics.
