TWAS-UNESCO Associateship Scheme
In collaboration with UNESCO and a number of centres of excellence in the South, TWAS has instituted a Joint Associateship Scheme to enable competent researchers from the South to visit these centres regularly. An associate is appointed for three years during which he/she can visit a Centre twice for research collaboration. TWAS provides travel support for the associates and a contribution towards subsistence costs up to USD300.00 per month while living expenses are covered by the host centres.

The National Centre for Physics (NCP) in Islamabad was established in 1999 to promote research in physics and allied disciplines in Pakistan and the region. Its main objective is to raise the standard of physics at par with international norms of productivity and originality, and to generate and disseminate knowledge in the major areas of physics.

The National Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) – based in Lahore, Pakistan – has expertise in plant and medical molecular biology and molecular genetics. Together with TWAS, CEMB operates the a postgraduate and a postdoctoral fellowship programme.
