Prof. Satish Patil obtained his Ph.D. in 2004 from Bergischen University of Wuppertal, Germany. He then moved to the laboratory of Prof. Fred Wudl at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) as a California Nanosystem Institute Post-doctoral fellow (CNSI). In 2006, Prof. Satish Patil was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the solid state and structural chemistry unit at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and currently he is professor at IISc, Bangalore. He is a recipient of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) medal for Young Scientist (2009), Young Affiliate of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and DST-SwarnaJayanti Fellow. Prof. Patil has made extensive fundamental and applied contributions to the field of molecular electronics. In particular, his research works on air-stable n-channel conjugated polymers and observation of band-like transport in conjugated polymers is truly path breaking. Professor Patil has guided several Ph.D. students and has more than 10 years of teaching experience in India's premier R&D and academic institution.
Dr. Subhabrata Chakrabarti, Associate Director of Research at LVPEI, is a genome biologist whose research on the functional genomics of glaucoma and AMD are pioneering in the field and have provided some molecular insights into the disease pathogenesis. These works have been widely recognized through several honors and awards; notable among them being the 'Research Recognition Award' of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA), Affiliateship of all the 3 Science Academies of India (INSA, IASc and NASI) and also The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and membership to the prestigious GRC (Guha Research Conference). Professionally, he serves on the Strategic Planning, Professional Development and Education and Publication Committees of ARVO (The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology), WGA, and other international organizations. He has published widely in high impact journals, secured extramural research grants from India and abroad, serves on the Editorial Boards of Translational Vision Science & Technology, Molecular Vision and Journal of Glaucoma and is a reviewer for several funding agencies.
