Two TWAS Young Affiliates Selected For STS Forum

Dr. Albert T. Modi from South Africa (TWAS Young Affiliate 2008) and Dr. Benedict M. Taele from Lesotho (TWAS Young Affiliate 2007) have been selected to participate in the 2008 STS forum Future Leaders initiative.

Two TWAS Young Affiliates Selected For STS ForumTogether with eight other scientists, they will be invited to attend the STS forum meeting in Kyoto and a subsequent study tour in Tokyo from 4 to 10 October. The programme will be organized and sponsored by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). As a 2008 forum Future Leader, Dr. Modi and Dr. Taele will be invited to attend the meeting and present their research in an internationally renowned, interdisciplinary, and cross-sectoral setting. The 2008 STS forum Future Leaders session will be chaired by Prof. Dr. h.c. Wolfgang Schürer, chairman of the Foundation Lindau Nobelprizewinners Meetings at Lake Constance. During the conference, Dr. Modi and Dr. Taele will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with principal researchers, policy makers, and business leaders. Subsequently, they will be invited to an exclusive study tour offering insights into Japan's science and technology landscape
