Prof. Asaad Khalid, with over 20 years in academia and research, is a Professor at the Substance Abuse and Toxicology Research Unit, Jazan University, Saudi Arabia, since 2013. Previously, he was a Research Professor and Head of the Medical Biochemistry Research Unit at the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Institute, Sudan, and briefly a Professor at the National University for Medical and Technical Studies, Khartoum. He has mentored over 16 Ph.D. and 10 M.Sc. graduates and led a drug discovery research group.
His anti-malarial research earned WHO recognition in 2009. With 240+ publications and an h-index of 31, he has received accolades like the AU-TWAS Young Scientists National Award (2011) and the PAMS Junior Gold Medal Award (2005). His research focuses on drug discovery from medicinal plants targeting diseases like malaria, diabetes, and tuberculosis, using enzyme inhibition methods and bioinformatics tools. Collaborating globally, his work impacts both science and society.
