Several members of the TWAS Young Affiliates Network (TYAN) recently took part in a high-level workshop organized by the CAS-TWAS Centres of Excellence. The event brought together over 60 scientists from more than 20 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, fostering meaningful exchange on climate-related research. It was held on 24–26 June in Beijing, China.

The workshop featured a series of insightful presentations by TYAN members, highlighting diverse research projects addressing the global climate crisis. TYAN co-chair Fang Chen also presented information about TYAN.

Despite the wide range of topics, the unifying theme of climate change underscored the urgency of interdisciplinary collaboration. A dedicated session also showcased the work and future directions of the CAS-TWAS Centres of Excellence.

The participation of TYAN members reflects the network’s mission to empower early-career scientists and promote international scientific collaboration.

We also gratefully acknowledge the presence of TWAS programme coordinator Max Paoli, who actively supported the discussions and interactions throughout the workshop. The event served as a valuable platform to spark new collaborations and strengthen the global scientific community.
