The Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) was inaugurated by President Nelson Mandela in 1996, three years after he won the Nobel Peace Prize. It was formed in response to the need for an academy of science congruent with the dawn of democracy in South Africa – an activist in the mission of using science for the benefit of society. ASSAf was host to TWAS's 11th General Conference and 20th General Meeting Durban, South Africa, in 2009. As of 2015, ASSAf is also the host of TWAS's Regional Office for sub-Saharan Africa.

Established in 1994, the Academy of Sciences Malaysia strives to be the ‘Think Tank’ of the nation for matters related to science, engineering, technology and innovation; and to pursue excellence in the fields of science, engineering and technology for the benefit of all.

The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) is an Africa-wide scientific organization that encourages the development of the research and technology base throughout Africa. AAS was founded with the help of TWAS in 1985 in Trieste, Italy. Until 2015 AAS served as host of TWAS's Regional Office for sub-Saharan Africa, TWAS-ROSSA.

The African Union (AU) is a union consisting of 54 African state, established in 2001. One of its objectives is to advance African development by promoting research in all fields, in particular in science and technology. AU and TWAS collaborate in the awarding of the annual AU-TWAS Young Scientist National Awards.

Founded in 1848, the American Association for the Advancement of Science seeks to "advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people." AAAS and TWAS collaborate at the interface of science and diplomacy, jointly operating an annual summer course in science diplomacy.

The new Bibliotheca Alexandrina is dedicated to recapture the spirit of openness and scholarship of the original Library of Alexandria. It aims to be a centre of excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge and a place of dialogue, learning and understanding between cultures and peoples. The Center for Special Studies and Programs at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosts TWAS's Arab regional office, TWAS-ARO.

The Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) effectively prohibits the development, production, acquisition, transfer, stockpiling and use of biological and toxin weapons. It was the first multilateral disarmament treaty banning an entire category of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

The BWC is a key element in the international community’s efforts to address WMD proliferation and it has established a strong norm against biological weapons. The Convention has reached almost universal membership with 185 States Parties and four Signatory States.

The Academia Brasileira de Ciências (ABC) unites the most eminent scientists in Brazil. It focuses on the country's scientific development and promotes the interaction among Brazilian scientists and with their colleagues in other nations. ABC is hosting TWAS's regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean.

CNPq (Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico) is an organization of the Brazilian federal government under the Ministry of Science and Technology, dedicated to the promotion of scientific and technological research. TWAS and CNPq are partnering in offering researchers in developing countries the opportunity of travelling to Brazil under the TWAS-CNPq Postgraduate Fellowship Programme or the TWAS-CNPq Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme.

The National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), founded in 1983, is a premier research institute with over 30 laboratories and 150 principle scientists conducting basic and applied research covering a wide spectrum from agricultural science to biomedical science and environmental science. TWAS and BIOTEC collaborate within the TWAS-BIOTEC Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme.

The National Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) – based in Lahore, Pakistan – has expertise in plant and medical molecular biology and molecular genetics. Together with TWAS, CEMB operates the a postgraduate and a postdoctoral fellowship programme.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is the highest academic institution and R&D centre in China. It has 100 branch institutes and two universities, and has created numerous commercial enterprises, including computer company Lenovo. CAS and TWAS collaborate in the CAS-TWAS President’s Postgraduate Fellowship Programme and the CAS-TWAS Centres of Excellence. In addition, CAS hosts the TWAS Regional Office for East and South-East Asia and the Pacific (ROESEAP).

COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan ranks among the top five Higher Education Institutions of Pakistan. It has 18 departments in 6 faculties offering 98 academic programmes at the undergraduate, master and doctoral level. It currently has over 37,000 students and over 3,000 faculty members on its 7 campuses in different cities of the country.   On the basis of its research output in ISI indexed journals it was ranked at the 2nd position in 2014 by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Besides well-equipped research laboratories for biosciences, chemistry, pharmacy, physics, environment sciences and earth sciences it has research centres for biomedical materials, micro & nano devices, telecommunications and climate research.

TWAS collaborates with CUI in the TWAS-CUI Postgraduate Fellowship Programme and the TWAS-CUI Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is the Indian government's main R&D organization. It consists of a network of 38 institutes and laboratories and 39 outreach centres covering most areas of science and technology. TWAS and CSIR partner in offering the TWAS-CSIR Postgraduate Fellowship Programme and the TWAS-CSIR Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme.

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) is an Indian government department, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, responsible for administering development and commercialization in the field of modern biology and biotechnology at a number of centres of excellence in India, including university departments and CSIR institutes and laboratories. TWAS and DBT collaborate in the framework of the TWAS-DBT Postgraduate Fellowship Programme and the TWAS-DBT Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme.

DST was established in 1971 with the objective of promoting new areas of science and technology and to play the role of a nodal department for organizing, coordinating and promoting S&T activities in the country. DST operates within the Indian Ministry of Science and Technology. Among other initiatives, it funds scientific research and international science engagement by Indian researchers. TWAS and DST have a cooperation agreement for PhD training, postdoctoral research and science diplomacy.

The main goal of FIT is to promote and encourage progress, freedom, the spread of science and their peaceful applications.

The Fondation maladies rares is a unique cooperative framework dedicated to rare diseases research. Co-founded by university hospitals, research organizations and patients’ organizations, it acts as a strategic hub to coordinate, federate and fund rare diseases research. The Fondation and TWAS have issued a call to award the best international outreach and awareness-raising project on rare diseases.

Gender in Science, Innovation, Technology and Engineering (GenderInSITE) is an international initiative to raise the awareness of decisionmakers on the gender and SITE dimensions of development, aimed at both men and women. The GenderInSITE secretariat is hosted by TWAS partner OWSD.

The German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) promotes education, science and research.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is the self-governing research funding organization in Germany. It focuses on funding and supporting excellent research. Together with TWAS, the DFG offers researchers from developing countries short-term TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits in Germany.

The Global Research Council (GRC) is comprised of the heads of science and engineering funding agencies from around the world. It promotes best practices for high-quality collaboration among funding agencies worldwide. TWAS is represented on the Governing Board, and in 2012, it helped to organize a key regional conference in Ethiopia.

The Global Virus Network (GVN) is a coalition of the best virologists in more than 20 countries working to advance knowledge about viruses, and to develop drugs and vaccines. TWAS's executive director is a member of the GVN Board of Directors.
