Hungria Mariangela

Hungria obtained her PhD in Agronomy (Soil Science) from the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and held postdoctoral positions at Cornell University, the University of California, Davis (USA), and the University of Seville (Spain). She has been a researcher at Embrapa since 1982 and at Embrapa Soja, Londrina, since 1991. She is also a Professor at the State University of Londrina. Her research focuses on soil biotechnology, particularly biological nitrogen fixation, plant growth-promoting microorganisms, microbial biodiversity, plant–microbe interactions, and inoculation technologies. She has authored more than 500 scientific and technical publications and contributed to the development of more than 30 microbial technologies. She has received more than 60 national and international awards, including the TWAS-Lenovo Science Award (2020) and the 2025 World Food Prize. She is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and TWAS.
