The handover meeting between TWAS Executive Director Romain Murenzi and ICTP Director Atish Dabholkar took place on 20 November 2023 at TWAS headquarters in Trieste, Italy.
Murenzi will retire on 30 November after serving as TWAS Executive Director for more than a decade, and Dabholkar will act as ad interim executive director starting from 1 December 2023.
Firstly, Murenzi and a group of TWAS staff members welcomed the guests and provided an overview of the Academy’s activities and organizational structure. Then, TWAS Executive Director handed over a dossier which includes all relevant information about the upcoming commitments of TWAS.
Finally, Dabholkar had the chance to listen to presentations on TWAS Programmes and TWAS Public Information Unit activities, as well as the work carried out by the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP), whose secretariats are hosted by TWAS.
