TWAS Executive Director Romain Murenzi has landed in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea where he will join in four days of meetings with scientific colleagues from the State Academy of Sciences

The launch of a new book, Trieste: City of Science and Higher Education, local leaders said the city should seek to expand its impact to further benefit both the region and global science.

The International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), Kenya, has joined two of TWAS's South-South collaboration programmes.

The 3rd Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research will be held in Helsinki, Finland, on 7-8 December 2010. As one of the organizers, TWAS is now accepting pre-registrations.

TWAS has entered into agreement with the Eastern Mediterranean Health Genomics and Biotechnology Network (EMGEN) under the TWAS-UNESCO Associateship scheme.

Each year, TWAS's five Regional Offices select up to five excellent young scientists (below the age of 40) to be come 'TWAS Young Affiliates'.

With input from TWAS, the US National Academies of Science have produced guidelines and manuals to aid laboratory safety and security in developing countries.

A website dedicated to the Solar Radiation Management Initiative (SRMGI), of which TWAS is a partner, is now online.

Some 325 participants from 55 countries gathered in a frozen Helsinki to discuss Euro-Africa cooperation in ICT research and e-infrastructures.
