Soares is a senior researcher at the Gonçalo Moniz Institute, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, and a full professor at Senai Cimatec in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. She earned her Bachelor of Science in genetics and her PhD in immunology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, completing a visiting fellowship at Harvard University. She is a senior research Fellow of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development, a member of the Academy of Sciences of Bahia, and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. Her research focuses on translational medicine, with the goal of developing new diagnostic tools, therapeutic drugs, and advanced therapeutic products. Her work primarily targets neglected and unmet medical needs, including Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, and spinal cord injury. A pioneer in the field of ATMPs in Brazil, Soares was an expert advisor with the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency and the Ministry of Health. In her career, she has led collaborative research with national and international institutions, mentoring a new generation of researchers and health professionals, making a significant contribution to scientific capacity-building in Brazil.

Soboyejo is a materials scientist whose research focuses on the mechanical properties of materials. His work has explored the structure and properties of metals/alloys, intermetallics, ceramics, composites, porous materials, cancer cells/tissues, biomaterials, and materials for energy and the environment. He received his BSc in mechanical engineering from King’s College London in 1985, and a PhD in materials science from Cambridge University in 1988. He worked as a Research Scientist at the McDonnell Douglas Research Labs, USA (1988–1992). Since then, he has been a faculty member at The Ohio State University, MIT, Princeton, African University of Technology (AUST) and Worcester Polytechnic (WPI). Soboyejo served as President and Provost of AUST (2012–14). He then returned to Princeton (2014–16), before moving to WPI as the Bernard M. Gordon Dean of Engineering (2016–18). He was Senior Vice President and Provost at WPI from September 2018 to May 2022, when he was appointed as Interim President of WPI. He is the recipient of National Young Investigator Awards by National Science Foundation/Office of Naval Research. He is a Fellow of the US National Academy of Engineering.

Sokona (PhD, 1981, Ecole nationale supérieure des mines de Paris, Université Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris VI, France) with over decades of experience addressing energy, environment and sustainable development in Africa, has been at the heart of numerous national and continental initiatives. He is currently leading the African Institute for Sustainable Energy and System Analysis (AISESA). He was a Vice-Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change sixth assessment report after serving as Co-Chair of IPCC Working Group III for the fifth assessment following being a Lead Author since 1990. In 2007 he received a personal certificate from the Nobel Committee marking his ‘significant contribution’ to the work of the IPCC, which received a joint award of the Nobel Peace Prize that year. He has held several senior national leadership positions, including permanent secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation; secretary-general of the National Research Council of Thailand; and executive director of the National Nanotechnology Center. He was the founding president of the Thailand Nanotechnology Association, president of the Asia Nano Forum, and chairman of the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation. He received his MD (first-class honours, Gold Medal) from Mahidol University, and his PhD in molecular biology from the University of Cambridge. He is an Anandamahidol Foundation Scholar, a distinction awarded by His Majesty the King of Thailand. Following training and research appointments in the United Kingdom and the United States, he joined Mahidol University, where he became a professor. His research focuses on immunology, molecular biology, and the genomics of tropical infectious diseases. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Thailand and the recipient of several distinguished national and international scientific awards.

Sood is the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India (PSA to GoI) since April 2022. Until 2011, he was the group leader of plant molecular biology and Director ( Interim) at ICGEB, New Delhi. He discovered the involvement of the glyoxalase system in plant cell stress response, by demonstrating that genetic engineering of the glyoxalase pathway leads to enhanced salinity tolerance; and that methylglyoxal levels in plants under stress are dependent on the enzyme glyoxalase I and glutathione. He also showed that methylglyoxal can act as stress signal in plants. He is a fellow of all science academies of India, and the winner of the Bhatnagar, Maheshwari and Saligram Sinha Awards of India. Souza Filho was born in 1975, in Jucás, Brazil, and received his doctorate in physics from the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Fortaleza, Brazil, in 2001. In 2000, he joined the group of Prof. Mildred Dresselhaus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a PhD visiting student, where he worked on single carbon nanotube resonance Raman spectroscopy. He has authored and co-authored about 270 papers in refereed international journals including review articles, book chapters, and books. He is currently a full professor of physics at the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil. He was one of the recipients of the 2009 Sômiya Prize awarded by the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS) and elected fellow of the Brazilian Academy of Science in 2018. His main research interests are the electronic and optical properties of nanomaterials with emphasis on carbon nanostructures.

Srinivas (Ph.D., 1982, University of Chicago) is the College of Arts and Sciences Professor at the University at Buffalo - SUNY. Earlier, he was a Distinguished Professor in the School of Mathematics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, from where he retired in 2023. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Mathematical Union for two terms, and served as Chairman of the National Board for Higher Mathematics, India for eight years. His awards and recognitions include the S.S. Bhatnagar Prize, India, the TWAS Mathematics Prize, a Humboldt Research Award, and an Einstein Visiting Fellowship from Berlin. He is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Indian National Science Academy, the National Academy of Sciences, India, and of the American Mathematical Society.

Stashenko is the director of the National Research Center for the Agroindustrialization of Tropical Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, CENIVAM. She has directed the research work of more than 300 new professionals in Chemistry, at undergraduate and graduate levels, which have been the basis for her publication of over 250 scientific articles. She has coauthored 11 patents. Research topics include the application of chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques to the study of secondary metabolites from aromatic plants, to the determination of pesticide residues in various materials, and to petrochemistry and organic geochemistry. Stashenko founded the National School on Chromatography where she has taught over 150 specialized courses on separation sciences to practicing professionals from research labs and industry.

Strumia is an emeritus professor of chemistry, Faculty of National University of Córdoba, and superior investigator of CONICET, ARGENTINA. Strumia has directed fifteen doctoral and four master's theses and has more than 165 scientific international publications in the field of polymer and dendritic chemistry. Her main research interest are the synthesis and chemical modification to obtain new functional materials or hybrid nanomaterials with specific application properties. She was elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 2019. During her scientific career she has received important awards such as: INNOVAR 2007 (Mention in the Applied Chemistry area), INNOVAR 2010 (Mention in the Technology Linkage and Transfer category) of the National Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the National Ministry of Economy and Production; Award for Scientific Career on the Day of Women and Girls in Science awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Province of Córdoba (2022); Konex 2023 Award in Science and Technology: Diploma of Merit (September 2023) and Konex Platinum Award (October 2023) in the area of Organic Chemistry.

Su obtained his MS in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1961 and his PhD in mechanical engineering from UC Berkeley in 1967. Sukumar (PhD, 1985) is professor of ecology, Indian Institute of Science. His work originally focused on the behaviour and conservation biology of elephants, expanding later to tropical forest ecology and climate change. Sukumar is Fellow of: Indian Acad. of Sciences; Indian Natl. Science Academy; Natl. Acad. Sci. India. He has held visiting positions at Princeton Univ., Columbia Univ. and Kyoto Univ. Sun graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Yunnan University (1983), and earned his master’s degree (1988) and his PhD (1994) from the Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), under the University of CAS. He began his scientific career at KIB in July 1983, and was promoted to assistant researcher in December 1990, associate researcher in June 1995, and senior research Fellow in November 1997. In November 2023, he was elected a CAS Academician. He has participated in international academic exchanges, serving as a visiting scholar at Harvard University (April–July 1999) and conducting advanced studies at the Jodrell Laboratory of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (January–July 2001). He held several leadership positions at CAS, including vice-president of the Kunming Branch (2002–2005 and 2012–2014), and served as director of the Kunming Institute of Botany (July 2014 to November 2023). His research focuses on phytotaxonomy, phylogeny, and biogeography. Azim Surani, born in Kenya received a PhD in 1975 at Cambridge University under Professor Sir Robert Edwards FRS (Nobel Laureate, 2010). Surani joined the Babraham Institute in 1979, and discovered ‘Genomic Imprinting’ in 1984, and subsequently, novel imprinted genes and their functions, with contributions to its mechanism through establishment and erasure of DNA methylation. In 1992, he was elected the Marshall-Walton Professor, and subsequently Director of Research at Cambridge University. His recent work established the genetic basis for germ cell specification and epigenetic programming towards resetting of the epigenome. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1990, Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2001, awarded a Royal Medal in 2010, and in 2014, the ISSCR McEwen Award for Innovation.

Suresh is President, Nanyang Technological U., Singapore. Previously, he served as Pres., Carnegie Mellon U. (2013-17), Dir., Natl. Swaminathan is a pediatrician and a globally recognized expert in tuberculosis and HIV research, who recently served as the first chief scientist of the World Health Organization. Previously she served as director-general of the Indian Council of Medical Research, and secretary of the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India (2015–2017). She is the principal advisor to the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme and serves as the national science chair of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, Government of India. Ramesh T Subramaniam is a material scientist well known for his outstanding scholastic contribution on solutions for energy storage and harvesting devices for clean energy and sustainable smart cities of tomorrow. He received the Pacifichem Young Scholar Award from the American Chemical Society, the Young Scientist Award from the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, the Established Scientist Award by the Royal Society, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations - China Scholar Award, and the Science and Technology Award from the Malaysia Toray Science Foundation. He was selected as an InterAcademy Partnership Young Scientist, and is a member of the Global Young Academy. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, and a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. Tan is a distinguished full professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, and a university Fellow at De La Salle University. Tan is internationally recognized as the co-developer of the carbon emissions pinch analysis algorithm. Tieniu Tan is currently Professor and President of the CPC Council of Nanjing University, and Director of the New Laboratory of Pattern Recognition (NLPR) of Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China. He received his BSc in electronic engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University, China in 1984, and his MSc and PhD degrees in electronic engineering from Imperial College London, UK in 1986 and 1989 respectively. He worked at the University of Reading, UK (1989-97) until he joined the Natl. Lab. of Pattern Recognition (NLPR), CAS Institute of Automation, as full professor. He served as Dir. Elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009, TWAS in 2020, and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering in 2026, he joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen in 2021 as Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, and has served as Vice-President since 2026. With over 2,700 papers, 265,000+ citations and an h-index of 224, he proposed aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and is a pioneer in this field. He has received many awards, including Tang Aoqing Chemistry Award (2026).

Tang is emeritus professor in the department of optical engineering at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China; former chairman, Optical Coatings Speciality Association of China; and member of the dditorial board of Acta Optica Sinica and Acta Photonica Sinica. Tang obtained his Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Peking University in 1984, and his PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Leeds, in 1989. From 2015 to 2019, he was the vice-president and provost at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). From 2019 to 2024, he served as the president of Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC). Professor Tang was widely known for his expertise in the fields of computational mathematics and computational fluid dynamics. In recent years, his research has been focusing on adaptive grid methods, high-order methods for PDEs, and numerical methods for phase-field equations. Tang is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences, and a TWAS Fellow. Tao is the Inaugural Director of the JD Explore Academy and a Senior Vice-President of JD.com, China’s largest online retailer. He is also an advisor and Chief Scientist of the Digital Sciences Initiative in the University of Sydney. He mainly applies statistics and mathematics to artificial intelligence and data science, and his research is detailed in one monograph and over 200 publications in prestigious journals, and proceedings at leading conferences. He received the 2015 Australian Scopus-Eureka Prize, the 2018 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM) Research Contributions Award, and the 2021 IEEE Computer Society McCluskey Technical Achievement Award. Professor Tawfik is founding director of the Egyptian Center for Theoretical Physics (ECTP), founding director of the World Laboratory for Cosmology And Particle Physics (WLCAPP), and research director at "ICSC-World Laboratory" in Erice, Italy. Professor Tawfik is serving in several committees and panels for education, scientific research, and development. For over two decades, Tayalati focused on the ATLAS collaboration, he played a key role in the construction of the Liquid Argon Presampler and contributed to ground-breaking research on light-by-light scattering. By building collaborations with the KM3NeT neutrino telescope and the ATLAS High Granularity Timing Detector, Tayalati showcased Morocco's role in cutting-edge particle physics. Recognized as an honorary fellow of the Islamic World Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the African Academy of Sciences, he received the Fulbright fellowship (2011), the Kuwait AFESD fellowship (2021), and the TWAS-AREP award (2022). In 2021, he was honoured with the prestigious Mustafa Prize for his significant contribution to physics research and scientific development. With his leadership and expertise, Tayalati continues to shape the landscape of particle physics research, driving towards a deeper understanding of the fundamental principles of the Universe.

Taylor earned his PhD from the University of Maryland, College Park, USA in 1999. He is a professor of climate science and dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Mona Campus of The University of the West Indies (UWI). He is a fellow of the Caribbean Academy of Science, and the co-director of the Climate Studies Group, Mona (CSGM), which is a center of regional thought and expertise in climate change science for small islands and the wider Caribbean. He has served on several national and regional (Caribbean) committees and advisory boards related to climate change science and its impacts on the Caribbean. Most recently, he was appointed to the climate change advisory board of the Government of Jamaica. He is a coordinating lead author for chapter 3 of the special report on 1.5 degrees of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He has received the Silver Musgrave Medal for Science from the Institute of Jamaica and is the 2019 ANSA Caribbean Laureate for Excellence in Science.
