Lee received his B.S. degree from the National Taiwan University in 1959 and Doctorate from UC Berkeley in 1965. After working with Professor Mahan at Berkeley and Professor Herschbach at Harvard as a post-doctoral fellow, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago in 1968. He returned to Berkeley as Professor of Chemistry in 1974. He was University Professor and Principal Investigator at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, UC Berkeley, before he returned to Taiwan to serve as the President of Academia Sinica from 1994 to 2006, the highest ranking academic institution in Taiwan. He was elected President of the International Council for Science (ICSU) in 2008 and served from 2011 to 2014. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the 1986 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and Doctor Honoris Causa from 41 universities throughout the world.

Lee received a PhD degree from Caltech in 1975. He specializes in space and plasma physics. Before 1995, he performed research at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, U. of Maryland and U. of Alaska. Upon returning to Taiwan in 1995, Lee served as the Dean of the College of Science, National Cheng Kung U., Director of National Space Program Office, founding President of the Natl. Applied Research Laboratories, President of Natl. Central University, and Minister of National Science Council. He is a distinguished research fellow of the Institute of Earth Sciences, Academia Sinica. He was also head of the mathematics group at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy. He is editor of the International Journal of Mathematics, Journal of Singularities and Acta Mathematica Vietnamica. He was awarded the Prix d’Aumale by the French Academy in 1990.

Dr. Laurencin is the University Professor of the University of Connecticut (the 8th in history). He is the Albert and Wilda Van Dusen Distinguished Endowed Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Professor of Chemical Engineering, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Professor of Biomedical Engineering. He did his B.S.E. degree in Chemical Engineering at Princeton, his M.D. from Harvard Medical School (Magna Cum Laude) and his PhD from M.I.T.. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Engineering in the U.S.. He is an elected Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences, the Indian National Academy of Sciences. the Indian National Academy of Engineering, and an Academician and Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He has been honored three times by U.S. Presidents. He received the Presidential Faculty Fellow Award from President Bill Clinton and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Math and Engineering Mentoring from President Barack Obama. He received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, the United States' highest honor for technological achievement in ceremonies at the White House.

Lal is dist. univ. prof. of soil science and dir., Carbon Management and Sequestration Center, Ohio State U., Columbus. After obtaining his PhD at Ohio State and completing postdoctoral work at The U. of Sydney, Australia, in 1969, he joined the Intl. Inst. of Tropical Agriculture in Ibadan, Nigeria. He returned to Ohio State in 1987 where he has taught two classes: environmental soil physics, and soils and climate change, and conducted research on soil carbon sequestration, soil restoration and food security. Honours include: three h.c. doctorates; Hugh Hammond Bennett Award (1998); Borlaug Award (2005); IPCC Nobel Peace Prize certificate; Zayed Prize diploma, Liebig Award (2006). Lacerda (PhD, Biophysics, 1983) is Titular Professor, Federal U. of Ceará in Fortaleza, Ceará and Fluminense Federal U. in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is a CNPq-National Research Council of Brazil Senior Researcher (1A) and a Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He is a Member of the FEC-Academy (Future Coasts Academy) and of ISME (International Society for Mangrove Ecosystems); under these institutions and UNESCO-UNEP he has coordinated global research programmes on mangrove conservation and coastal zone management in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. He received the Excellence Award in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, U. of Florida (1995); the BUNKA-SUMITOMO Prize of Scientist of the Year (1999); and the Bunge Prize 2011 in Oceanography. In 2018 received the National Order of Scienctific Merit from the Federal government. Lacerda has authored over 290 journal papers, 80 book chapters and 21 books and majored over 100 PhD, MSc and Postdoc researchers.

Kwon is professor emeritus, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Seoul Natl. Univ. (SNU), where he was prof. from 1977 to 2008; chaired professor of Daegu Gyeongbuk Inst. of Science and Tech. (DGIST) from 2010 to 2014; visiting chair professor of DGIST since 2014. He obtained his BS (1966) and MS (1972) from SNU, and a PhD (1975) from Brown Univ. (BU). He received the Natl. Kwok, MD, PhD, graduated at University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. After residency in dermatology and postdoctoral training at Washington University School of Medicine, USA, he joined its faculty in 1993. At present, he is Distinguished Fellow and Director of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at Academia Sinica, and Henry Bachrach Distinguished Professor at University of California San Francisco. Kwok’s research focuses on developing tools and strategies to study the human genome and the role of human variation in common diseases. He holds several patents on genomic analysis tools and played key roles in many large consortia, including the SNP Consortium, the International HapMap Project, the NSIGHT Consortium, and the CSER Consortium. He currently leads the Taiwan Precision Medicine Initiative, where a reference database with genetic profiles and clinical data of 1 million people is being built to improve health through disease risk prediction and tailored heath management guidelines. Kwok is a Fellow of the AAAS and the recipient of the 2022 Chen Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Human Genetic and Genomic Research by the Human Genome Organization.

Kumar is a Regents Prof, University Distinguished Prof, holds the O’Donnell Foundation Chair I, and is a Prof in the Dept of Elect and Comp Engg., Texas A and M Univ. He obtained his BTech from IIT Madras (1973) and DSc from Washington U., St. Louis, (1977). He has worked on game theory, adaptive control, simulated annealing, machine learning, queueing networks, security, information theory, wireless networks, cyberphysical systems, manufacturing systems, power systems, and UAV systems. Kumar has a B.Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur, and a PhD from Cornell University, both in Electrical Engineering. He was with Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, N.J., USA, for over 6 years. Since 1988 he has been with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, where he is a Professor, and also the Chair of the Electrical Sciences Division. From 1988 to 2003 he was the Coordinator at IISc of the Education and Research Network Project (ERNET), India's first wide-area packet switching network. He has been elected Fellow of the IEEE (the Insitution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). He received the IISc Alumni Award for Excellence in Engineering Research for 2008.

Kumar, Anil (PhD, IIT, Kanpur, 1969) is NASI-Senior Scientist Platinum Jubilee fellow, Indian Inst. of Science (IISc), Bangalore. Kubota got his PhD in chemistry from the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil, in 1993. He was a lecturer at São Paulo State University and moved to the Unicamp in 1994 as an assistant professor, becoming a full professor in 2009. He was the coordinator of the Central Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry at Unicamp (2002–2008), the research coordinator (2008-2014), and the director (2014–2018) of the Institute of Chemistry at Unicamp. Since 2008, he has coordinated the National Institute on Science and Technology in Bioanalytics. He became a member of the São Paulo State Academy of Science in 2007, the Brazilian Academy of Science in 2010, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2014. He received several awards and honours, including the São Paulo State Governor Invention of the Year in 2000, the Zeferino Vaz Academic Recognition Award in 2004 and 2023, the National Order of Scientific Merit from the Brazilian Presidency Commander Class in 2011, and the Grã-Cruz level in 2018, and the Rheinboldt-Hauptmann Prize in 2023. He is a member of the editorial board of several journals like Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, ChemElectroChem, and others.

Krishnaswamy is EX- director, Natl. Inst. of Nutrition, Hyderabad, and past president, Nutrition Society of India (NSI). Graduated in Medicine in 1953. From 1957 to 1985, worked at the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto-USP. From 1985 to 2010: chaired the Hypertension Unit, Heart Institute of the Medical School of the University of São Paulo (InCor-FMUSP). His main research field is experimental and clinical hypertension, especially the neurogenic mechanism. From 1993 to 2007: President of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. From 1998 to 2002: Chairman of the Committee on Science and Technology in Developing Countries (COSTED) of the International Council of Science. From 2000 to 2003: co-chairman of the InterAcademy Pannel-IAP, representing Brazil at the Executive Committee of the InterAcademy Council-IAC (2000-2010), and the Inter-Academy Medical Panel (2010-).He is currently the director for International Relations of the Medical School of the University of São Paulo, member of the National Council of Science and Technology, and the Vice-President of São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).

Kohayakawa (PhD, Cambridge, 1991) is a Full Professor at the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo. He works mainly in the areas of discrete mathematics and theoretical computer science. He was one of the first researchers to promote the use of Szemerédi's regularity method in the sparse setting, focusing on analogues of classical extremal problems in sparse random environments. More recently, he investigated limits of permutation sequences and successfully obtained strong estimates on the number of B_h-sets. His papers on chromatic thresholds of graphs, co-authored with P. Allen, J. Böttcher, S. Griffiths, and R. Morris, received the 2018 Delbert Ray Fulkerson Prize of the American Mathematical Society and Mathematical Optimization Society. He is a member of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo and of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.

Klein is Carnell Professor of Science and director of the Institute for Computational Molecular Science, at Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. He was Hepburn professor of physical science and director, Lab. for Research on the Structure of Matter, Univ. of Pennsylvania (UPenn), Philadelphia. After his PhD (Univ. of Bristol) and postdoctoral work in Italy, England, and USA, he joined the National Research Council of Canada. In 1987, he joined UPenn where he established the Center for Molecular Modeling. Khush is adjunct professor at UC Davis. He obtained his PhD at UC Davis in 1960. After serving as assistant geneticist at the same university for seven years, he joined the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines as plant breeder. He retired as principal plant breeder and head of the division of plant breeding, genetics and biotechnology in 2002. His honours include 14 honoris causa doctorates and several awards including the Japan Prize, World Food Prize, Rank Prize, Wolf Prize, Golden Sickle Award, Mahathir Science Award and the Padma Shri Award by the President of India. He is a member of 9 science academies including Indian National Science Academy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Royal Society and the US National Academy of Sciences.
