Hassan is president of the Sudanese National Academy of Sciences and was president of TWAS from 2019-22; and Chair of the Governing Council of the United Nations Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries, and of the International Advisory Board of the Centre for Development Research, Germany. He covered many high-level positions, such as President of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP); founding Executive Director of TWAS; President of the African Academy of Sciences; founding President of the Network of African Science Academies, and Chair of the Council of United Nations University. After obtaining his PhD in mathematics from the University of Oxford, he returned to the Sudan and later became Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences at Khartoum University. Among his honours are: Comendador and Grand Cross of the Brazilian Order of the National Scientific Merit, and Officer of the Order of Merit of Italy. He is a member of several scientific academies, including the Belgian, Colombian, Cuban, Moroccan, Pakistani, South African and the Pontifical. He is the recipient of the G77 Leadership Award and of the Abdus Salam Medal for Science and Technology.

Hassan has focused his attention on the genotypic and phenotypic variables concerning hypertension in the Middle East, and a study of the personal and environmental influences on the physical fitness in urban and rural youth of the region. He is professor and chair of physiology, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman. He was previously chairman of the department of physiology, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has received the Pan Arab Hypertension Society Award in 1999 and the Asian Federation Olympic Committee Award in 2000. He is an elected member of the Hypertension Society and fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow. Heilbron earned a Bachelor of Science (1980) and a Master of Science in geology (1984) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and a PhD in geosciences from São Paulo University (1993). She carried out postdoctoral studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal, working with Uranium–lead dating geochronology (2000–2001), and at Salzburg University, Austria (2018–2019), where she carried out Argon-Argon geochronology and tectonics. She completed her senior internships at Mainz University, Alberta University at Edmonton, ANU in Australia and Portsmouth University, UK. Presently, she is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Science and TWAS. In 1983, she joined the Geology Institute of Rio de Janeiro State University as a full professor. Besides teaching, she coordinated the postgraduate programme, and directed the Geology Institute (2003–2006). She served as the provost of postgraduate studies and research (2000–2015), and was appointed director of the International Office of UERJ in 2024. She is head of the GeoAtlantic Institute (CNPq) and of the Tektos Research Group developing research and applied projects.

Heong is Qiushi Chair professor Zhejiang University and Sr. Advisor, Center for Agricultural Biosciences Internatl. (CABI), Malaysia . He obtained his BSc (zoology) from U. of Malaya; his MSc, PhD and DSc from Imperial College, London. He is recognized internationally as an authority on science, technology and the implementation of pest ecology, biodiversity, ecological engineering, farmers' decision-making and pest management. He has served as a snr. res. off., Malaysian Agric. Res & Development Inst, and principal scientist, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines. His honors include: Medal for Agriculture Development, Medal for Scientific Excellence from the Govt. of Vietnam; St Andrews Prize, US Council of Agric S and T Charles Black Award, TWAS Prize for agriculture, WB Marketplace Award, COM+Award for communication, Intern Plant Protection Award of Distinction and Zhejiang Westlake Friendship Award, Research Star Award. He is fellow of Academy of Science, Malaysia.

Hildebrand is Regents Professor Emeritus of Neuroscience at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He received his AB (biology) from Harvard University and PhD (biochemistry) from Rockefeller University. After 16 years of faculty service at Harvard and Columbia Universities, he moved to Arizona in 1985 as Founding Head of the Division of Neurobiology (1985–2009), later the Department of Neuroscience (2009–2013). Research fields: insect neurobiology and behavior, olfaction, chemical ecology, and arthropod vector biology. A past President of: Association for Chemoreception Sciences; International Society of Chemical Ecology; and International Society for Neuroethology. Le Tuân Hoa is a full professor of the Institute of Mathematics Hanoi (IMH), Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology. He graduated in Belorussia, obtained his PhD in 1990 at University of Halle, Germany and Doctor of Science in 1995 at the IMH. He joined IMH in 1981, where he served as a Deputy-Director from 1998 to May 2011, and director from 2013 to 2017. From June 2011 to October 2013 he was seconded to the Vietnam Institute of Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) and took the position of Managing director there. He also served as the president of the Vietnam Mathematical Society (VMS) for the terms 2008 - 2013 and the president of the South East Asian Mathematical Society (SEAMS) for the terms 2012-2013. Since 2018, he is the chair of Section Mathematics of the State Council for Professorship of Vietnam. He is elected as an IMU/ CDC Member for the period 2023-2026. His research focuses on the complexity of algebraic objects. He has more than 60 publications.

Holden earned his PhD in mathematics from the University of Oslo in 1985, and is Doctor honoris causa, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Hanoi. Since 1986 he has been working at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway, where he became a full professor in 1991. He is Secretary General of the International Mathematical Union (2015–2022); Vice-president of the European Mathematical Society (2007–10) and Secretary (2003–06). Holden is an elected member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters (President 2014–16), the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences, the Academia Europaea, the European Academy of Sciences. He is Fellow of the American Mathematical Society and of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics too.

Hong is the head of (Hong Tao) Acadamician’s Lab, Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, China CDC; director, Inst. of Biology and Biotech., Beijing Jiaotong University; professor, Peking Union Medical College; and member, Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1995. His contributions include: 1) discovery of the Adult Diarrhoea Rotavirus (ADRV), which has been genetically characterized and classified to be the unique human group B rotavirus; 2) discovery of the morphology and identification of Hantavirus; and 3) pioneering study on Prion diseases in China. His 18 awards include the Meritous Service Award and WHO National Nature Science Awards. His memberships include: Chinese Society of Microbiology; Chinese Medical Association; American Society of Virology; Intl. Soc. of Electron Microscopy; and president, Public Health and Medicine, Pacific Science Association.

A prominent physical chemist and nanomaterial expert, Dr. HOU has made significant contributions in synthesis and characterization of nanomaterial and nanostructures, physical and chemical properties of single molecules and their assemblies, and scanning tunnel microscopy. He studied physics at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) from 1978, completing his Bachelor degree in 1983 and then received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in 1986 and 1989, respectively. From 2008 to 2015, Dr. HOU held the position as President of USTC until he became Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST). Afterwards, he worked successively in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine from 2016 to 2017. In 2018 He was appointed as Vice President (full ministerial level) of CAS. He was elected CAS Member in 2003 and Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS) in 2004. He is also Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry of UK.

Mahouton Norbert Hounkonnou is a full Professor of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin. His works deal with noncommutative and nonlinear mathematics, and complexity. He authors books. He serves as a member or associate editor of editorial boards for renowned book series and journals in mathematics and mathematical physics. He supervised 37 PhD and 40 M. Sc. students from various continents. He was awarded a series of recognitions for the excellency of his works such as the Prize of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 1996, the Tokyo University of Science President Award in 2015, and the 2016 World Academy of Sciences C. N. R. Rao Prize for Scientific Research "for his incisive work on noncommutative and nonlinear mathematics and his contributions to world-class mathematics education ";. He is the President of the Network of African Science Academies, former President of the Benin National Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters. His membership extends to African Academy of Sciences, Academy of Science of South Africa, Académie Hassan II des Sciences et Techniques du Maroc, InterAcademy Partnership Advisory Committee, etc.

Dr. Hu is currently Chair Professor of Mechanics with Beijing Institute of Technology, Presidium Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering and Editor-in-Chief for Journal of Vibration Engineering. He used to be President of Beijing Institute of Technology (2007-2017), President of Nanjing University of Aeronautics of Aeronautics (2001-2007), Professor of Mechanics with that university (1994-2007), and Humboldt Research Fellow with University of Stuttgart (1992-94). He has made recognized contributions to the nonlinear dynamics of vibration control systems, dynamics of carbon nano-systems, and active flutter suppression of aircraft structures. He received State Award of Natural Sciences twice (2006, 2012). He has been Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2007), Honorary Doctor of Moscow State University (2015), Honorary Doctor of Science of University of Reading (2016), and Honorary Fellow of Hungary Academy of Sciences (2022).

Huang is a distinguished professor and founder of the College of Atmospheric Sciences, Lanzhou University, and director at the Collaborative Innovation Center for Western Ecological Safety, Lanzhou University. He is also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Meteorological Society, and China National Committee for the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences. His research focuses on semi-arid climate change by combining observations, numerical modelling, and theoretical studies. He established the theoretical framework of a semi-arid climate change mechanism that emphasizes the effects of aerosol-cloud-precipitation, land-atmosphere, and ocean-atmosphere interactions on climate change in semi-arid regions. In recent years, Huang has pioneered a series of studies on the oxygen cycle and land cancer. Additionally, Huang is among the most highly cited researchers for three consecutive years in 2021, 2022, and 2023 according to Clarivate, with an H-Index of 73. He has received several awards for his research achievements, including the Second Prize of National Natural Science Award in 2013 and the First National Innovation Award in 2017.

Dr. Jikun Huang is Professor at School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences and Honorary Director of China Center for Agricultural Policy (CCAP) and Director of New Rural Development Institute in Peking University, Fellow TWAS, Honorary Life Member of the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE), and Fellow of Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA). He is vice-president of Chinese Association of Agro-technology Economics. He received his BS degree from Nanjing Agricultural University in 1984 and PhD in agricultural economics from University of the Philippines at Los Banos in 1990. His research covers a wide range of issues on China's agricultural economics, policies and rural development. He received Award for China’s Outstanding Youth Scientists in 2002, Outstanding Achievement Award for Overseas Returning Chinese in 2003, Fudan Prize for Eminent Contributor to Management Science in 2008, and IRRI’s Outstanding Alumni Award in 2010. He has published more than 600 journal papers, including the papers published in Science, Nature and many leading journals in development economics. He is co-author of 20 books.

Huang has made fundamental contributions to dynamics of nonlinear systems, neuromorphic computing, intelligent control and smart grid. Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, academician of the International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Sciences, Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Association for Pattern Recognition, and the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, he is Highly Cited Researcher named by Clarivate Analytics, and distinguished lecturer of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. Huang received the Outstanding Achievement Award from Asia Pacific Neural Networks Society; the Changjiang chair professorship awarded by China’s Ministry of Education; the Best Research Project Award presented by Qatar National Research Fund; and The Association of Former Students Distinguished Achievement Award for Research, the highest honor bestowed by Texas A&M University to its faculty, among others.

Hung, PhD, is president for China Medical University and chancellor for China Medical University - Asia University System in Taichung, Taiwan. He was vice-president for basic research and professor and chair of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, The University of Texas. Hung is a basic scientist with a keen translational vision and especially his recent research effort has significantly contributed to understanding the biology of cancer and to developing combinational cancer therapies to overcome resistance. Up to date, Hung has published more than 600 peer-reviewed articles, of which over 160 were published in journals with impact factor 10 or above. His lifetime h-index reaches to 163 (Google Scholar). He is one of the members of the selection committee for Tang Prize in Biopharmaceutical Science category, and is one of the founding editorial members for Cancer Cell (2002–2020). He serves as member, Molecular Cell Advisory Board (2020–present); senior editor, Cancer Research (2018–2021); editor-in-chief, American Journal for Cancer Research (AJCR) (2015–2017; 2020–present); editor, Cancer and Metastasis Reviews (2018–present).

Hungria got her PhD in Agronomy (Soil Science) from Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and held postdoctoral positions at the universities of Cornell, California-Davis (USA) and Seville (Spain). She has been a Researcher at Embrapa since 1982, at Embrapa Soja (Londrina) since 1991, and a Researcher of National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) since 1992. She is a Professor of microbiology and biotechnology at the University of Londrina, and supervised more than 100 MSc and PhD students. Her experience is in agronomy with emphasis on soil biotechnology: biological nitrogen fixation, biodiversity; taxonomy and phylogeny of prokaryotes, microbial ecology, soil microbiology, plant growth promoting bacteria; plant physiology; inoculant production; technologies of inoculation; omics sciences; microbial culture collections. She has over 500 refereed scientific articles, book chapters, books and technical publications. She launched more than 20 technologies, including microbial strains and commercial inoculants. She received more than 20 prizes, including the TWAS-Lenovo Science Award (2020). She is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.

Hussain (PhD, Stanford, 1969) is President's Dist Chair in Engr and Science, and Snr Adv to the President, Texas Tech Univ (TTU), Mech Engr Dept. He was post-doc at Johns Hopkins, then moved to U. of Houston (UH) in 1971, where he became Prof (76), Dist Univ Prof (85), Cullen Dist Chair (89) before moving to TTU in 2013. He is a Fellow of APS, ASME and AIAA; member of Natl Acad of Engr, Bangladesh Acad of Sci, and Johns Hopkins Soc of Scholars; Hon Prof of Peking Univ and Dean of Houston Methodist Research Institute.

Hussain is professor in the electrical engineering department at Kuwait University in Safat, Kuwait. He has done significant work in advancing the emerging technology, utrawide band impulse radar and radio communications, through basic design principles, and array beam forming and self-steering array antenna systems. In addition, he has also provided solutions to modified Maxwell equations for signals. He is a senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award and the Kuwait Prize for the Advancement of Science.

Hussain is Ghulamali Hirji professor and former head of department of microbiology, Aga Khan University (AKU) in Karachi, Pakistan and is Professor Emeritus at AKU. She obtained her BSc (hons.) in 1966, MSc (microbiology) in 1967 at Karachi University, PhD (immunology) at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, in 1973, Fellow of The Royal College of Pathologist (1997). At NIH she did seminal work in identifying blocking antibodies to IgE responses in filariasis and received the best paper award by American Society of Nuclear Medicine. At AKU she did outstanding work on Immunology of Mycobacterial disease. Her work has led to the early diagnosis and pathogenesis of leprosy and tuberculosis for which she received TWAS prize in Basic Medical Sciences, Research Excellence award, AKU, National Honours, Tamghe-i-Imtiaz and Sitara-e-Imtiaz, HEC National Distinguished Professor.
