From Oct 2015 till Sept 2020, Grötschel was President of the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. He obtained his PhD in 1977 at U Bonn, was full professor of mathematics at U Augsburg (1982-1991), at TU Berlin (1991-2015) and Vice President (1991-2012)/President (2012-2015) of the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB). He was President of the German Mathematical Society (1993-1994), Secretary of the International Mathematical Union (2007-2014), chaired the DFG Research Center MATHEON “Mathematics for Key Technologies” (2002-2008), and held many other administrative positions in the service of the sciences. Grossi de Sa (PhD, 1987, U. Paris VII) is the head of the Plant-Pest Molecular Interaction Group, EMBRAPA Genetic Resources and Biotechnology (1989-) and professor, Catholic U. of Brasília (2004-). She was president, Brazilian Soc. of Biotechnology; coordinator, Area of Biotechnology (2008-13) and member, CTC-ES, CAPES, Brazil (2008-14). Currently, she is member, Internatl. Advisory Committee, CAPES, and full member, Brazilian Acad. of Sciences. She is a recipient of the Scopus Award 2010 (Elsevier/Capes). Gross (PhD 1966, UC Berkeley) is permanent member, Kavli Inst. for Theoretical Physics, UC Santa Barbara, where he was director (1997-2012). He was Thomas Jones Prof. of Mathematical Physics, Princeton U. Gross has made important contributions to particle physics and string theory, incl. the discovery of asymptotic freedom and development of quantum chromodynamics, the theory of the nuclear, strong force; and the discovery and development of heterotic string theory. Professor Grebogi got his PhD in Physics from the University of Maryland in 1978, Postdoc in Physics and Applied Mathematics at UC Berkeley in 1978-1981. He is the Sixth Century Chair, and the Founding Director of the Institute for Complex Systems and Mathematical Biology, King’s College, University of Aberdeen, UK. He is also an External Scientific Member (Mitglied) of the Max-Planck-Society. He was previously with the University of Sao Paulo as Full Professor of Physics, and, before that, with the University of Maryland as Full Professor of Mathematics. He has made a major impact for his work in the field of chaotic and complex dynamics. He was awarded the Senior Humboldt Prize and the Thomson-Reuters Citation Laureate. The seminal work on chaos control (OGY) was selected by the American Physical Society as a milestone in the last 50 years. He received multiple Doctor Honoris Causa degrees, Humboldt Senior Prize, Fulbright Fellowship, Toshiba Chair, and various Honorary Professorship awards. Gray is President/CEO of the South African Medical Research Council, Research Professor in Paediatrics at the University of the Witwatersrand, and Member (Professor) in the Vaccine & Infectious Disease Division at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, in Seattle. A Medical Doctor, specialising in Paediatrics, she started her research career in the field of preventing mother to child transmission of HIV-1 (PMTCT). She was awarded a Fogarty Fellowship to study clinical epidemiology at Cornell and Columbia Universities (1999), enabling her to broaden her investigative interests to include: clinical trial design; vaccine. She developed her research in post-natal transmission, focusing on breast-feeding, infant survival and post-exposure prophylaxis. Gray collaborated in multi-country efforts to find short-course and affordable antiretroviral interventions for PMTCT. She co-founded with James McIntyre the Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU) at Baragwanath Hospital, which is now a world-renowned research unit focused on HIV prevention and treatment with grants awarded through competitive international processes from the NIH, USAID, amongst others, amounting to over R120 million pa.

Goswami (PhD University of Calcutta, 1996) is currently a senior professor in the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, India. Her topic of research is neutrino physics and physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. She is a member of the India-Based Neutrino Observatory collaboration. She has received several awards including the Humboldt fellowship from Alexander-von-Humboldt foundation, P. Sheel Memorial Lecture Award for women scientists from the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Allahabad, India, the C .V. Raman Mahila Vijnana Puraskara from Swadeshi Vijnana Andolana, Karnataka, and the J.C. Bose National fellowship of Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), India. She is an elected fellow of all the three science academies in India.

Goswami is SERB Distinguished Fellow of Government of India at Cotton University in Guwahati. He obtained his PhD from PRL, Ahmedabad, and did postdoctoral research at MIT, Cambridge, USA, and at NASA/GSFC, USA. Returning to India, he worked at CAS/IIT, Delhi and CAOS, IISc, Bangalore between 1985 and 2006. He was Director of IITM, Pune between 2006 and 2014. He was visiting professor at the University of Maryland and Princeton University. He has received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award; Hari Om Ashram Prerit Vikram Sarabhai Award; Kamal Kumari National Award for Science and Technology;National Award in Atmospheric Science and Technology by MoES and the Kalpathi Ramakrishna Ramanathan Medal by INSA. He is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and Indian Meteorological Society, and member of several national and international commissions and committees.

Gopakumar is Senior Prof. and Director of the Int. Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR) in Bengaluru, India. He was previously Prof. at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI), Allahabad, India. He did his undergraduate studies at IIT-Kanpur and obtained his Phd in 1997 under the supervision of David Gross at Princeton U., USA. After a research associateship at Harvard U. he returned to India to work at HRI. His work has aimed to understand the origin of gauge-string dualities. He is known for the Gopakumar-Vafa duality as well as the Gopakumar-Vafa invariants. His work with Gaberdiel on the duals to minimal model CFTs has also been very influential. He is the recipient of the ICTP Prize, S. S. Bhatnagar award, G. D. Birla Award, TWAS Prize in Physical Sciences, J. C. Bose Fellowship among other awards. He is a member of all three Indian science academies as well as a founding member-alumnus of the Global Young Academy.

Gonzales has been professor for 42 years of the Faculty of Sciences and Philosophy of the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia (1979-2021) with a wide and recognized scientific career at national and international level from 1977 to the present day. Physician and biologist by profession, he is the first Doctor of Science at the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia (1985) and also holds a PhD in Medicine (1999) with a post-doctorate at Monash University, in Melbourne, Australia (1987-1988). He is an Academic of Number at both the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences. During his 44 years of scientific life, he has devoted himself to research on the endocrine aspects of adaptation to high altitude, in particular to the hormonal mechanisms that regulate erythropoiesis. In Peru, residents above 2000m account for 30% of the Peruvian population. Gonzales is the author of 355 scientific publications, including 12 books and 14 book chapters. He has received 72 national and international awards during his scientific career. He is a referee of more than 60 international journals. He has advised 30 Bachelor's, 19 Master's and 8 Doctor´s thesis.

Gingrich is full professor at the Department for Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna. Anwar Gilani (PhD, 1985, Uni. of Sydney), a distinguished Pharmacologist, worked at Aga Khan University, Karachi for 30 yrs, Dean, Health Sci at Mekelle Uni, Ethiopia, CEO of Pakistan Council for Sci & Technology and Vice Chancellor, Uni of Haripur, Pak. A natural product pharmacologist, Gilani has discovered himbacine as a prototype of cardio-selective antimuscarinic drug and showed presence of synergistic and side-effects neutralizing combinations in natural products. He carries the title of Distinguished National Professor, Fellow & Council member of Pakistan Acad. of Sciences. His h-index is 86 and his awards include: TWAS Abdus Salam Prize; Ibn-al-Haytham Prize; Aga Hassan Abedi Medal; Boehringer Intl. Earlier he served as Head of the Theoretical Chemistry Section, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India, and senior professor and dean-academic (chemical sciences) at Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, India. He was educated at the University of Burdwan, India (MSc), and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (PhD, 1982). He has worked in different areas of theoretical chemistry, dealing with density functional theory at different length scales and time-dependent systems, theory of chemical binding, structure of soft matter at interfaces, dynamics in condensed phase and modeling materials for energy applications. He is a fellow of all three national science academies of India and is recipient of the TWAS Prize in Chemistry, silver medal of the Chemical Research Society of India, JC Bose National Fellowship of DST, India, Jagdish Shankar Memorial Lecture Award of INSA and D.Sc. (honoris causa) from Kalyani University, India.

Ghosh is Distinguished James McGill Prof. and Macdonald Prof. of Education, McGill University, Montréal, Canada. Dean of Education (1998-­‐2003), she is Fellow, Royal Society of Canada (chaired the Standing Committee: Advancement for Women in Scholarship for two terms); Member, Order of Canada (2000); Officer, Order of Quebec (2005); and Full Member, European Acad. of Sciences, Arts and Letters, Paris (1999). Ghassib is professor of theoretical physics at the University of Jordan. After obtaining a PhD in physics and completing postdoctoral work at Manchester University, he returned to Jordan in late 1975. Since then he has worked in various capacities at the University of Jordan and other institutions, including the Arab Thought Forum, Majlis El Hassan and the newspaper AL ARAB AL YAWM. His honors and awards include: Abdul Hameed Shoman Prize for Young Arab Scientists in Fundamental Sciences, Amman, 1986; Al-Hussein Order of Merit for Distinguished Contribution, 2nd order, 1998; and 1st order, 2000; Distinguished Researcher Prize, The University of Jordan, 2011. He is a member of the Jordan Academy of Arabic (1984-) and the New York Academy of Sciences (1981).

Aster Gebrekirstos (PhD, Gottingen University, Germany, 2005) is senior scientist and head of the dendrochronology lab, World Agroforestry (ICRAF), Nairobi, Kenya, and affiliated with Erlangen University, Germany. Her research is in the area of forest ecology, dendroclimatology, climate change, applications of stable isotopes, land restoration. She led and participated in research projects across Africa and Asia. She set up dendrochronology labs in Ethiopia (2009) and in Nairobi (2013). She taught at Alemaya and Wondo Genet University, Ethiopia; as visiting professor at WASCAL, and Dresden University in Germany. She trained 20+ PhD students, published 80+ journal articles and book chapters. Her awards include: African Climate Award for excellence in climate change research (2014), Special Award for Groundbreaking Science (2009). Fellow of African Academy of Science (AAS), International Academy of Wood Science, conferred Eleonore Trefftz Visiting Professorship Dresden University. She is a vice-president of International Union of Agroforestry, chair of Environment Committee at AAS, member of science leadership at Past Global Changes (PAGES) and Mountain Research Institute (MRI).

Gaye is Professor of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine of Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar; Director of the Malaria Research and Capacity Development Programme in West and Central Africa; Coordinator of the Network for Malaria Surveillance in West and Central Africa; a member of the Senegalese Academy of Sciences and Techniques, and a member of Malaria Consortium's Board of Trustees. He was: Head of the Department of Parasitology; Coordinator of the PhD training in human biology and pathology; Scientific Adviser on Malaria in WHO Regional Office for Africa, and a member of WHO headquaters' Expert Panel on Malaria Management; Malaria Technical Advisor at the Gates Foundation; and Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Health, Senegal, for many years. Gaye has coordinated research on malaria and several parasitic diseases in Africa, as the seasonal malaria chemoprevention, and the use of antimalarial and diagnostics tests at community level. He is a founding member of the West Africa Roll Back Malaria Network. He received the Senegal Presidential Award for Science in 2012, and International Distinguished Fellow by American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in 2021.

Garruto is prof. of biomedical anthropology and neurosciences and Dir. of the Biospecimen Archive Facility, State Univ. of New York, Binghamton. He received his PhD from Penn State Univ. and joined the Natl. Institutes of Health (NIH) in 1973 as a research scientist. She is a John Simon Guggenheim Fellow and an editor at Current Opinion in Microbiology, Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology, Methods X, Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences and Associate Editor of Current Research of Microbial Sciences ( 2020- ). Gamboa Vilela (PhD, 2008, Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium, and University of Maastricht, The Netherlands) is professor at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Sciences, Faculty of Science and Philosophy (FACIEN), Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH), and member of the Institute of Tropical Medicine Alexander Von Humboldt (IMTAvH-UPCH). She is director of the Malaria Laboratory, belonging to both FACIEN and IMTAvH-UPCH. Her group carries out multidisciplinary studies on the dynamics of malaria transmission in the Peruvian Amazon with over 90 articles published, and more than 40 under and postgraduate students who have graduated with a thesis within her group. She has been a member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) since 1996. She received the L’Oréal-UNESCO Fellowship in 2003, the OWSD-Elsevier Foundation Award for Latin America & Caribbean (2013), and the L'Oréal-UNESCO-CONCYTEC-ANC National Award For Women in Science - Peru in 2015. She is a member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and since 2013 she has also been a member of the Peruvian National Academy of Sciences (ANC).

Gambini is professor at the Instituto de Fisica, Facultad de Ciencias, in Montevideo, Uruguay. He is known for his development of non-perturbative techniques for the treatment of gauge theories in terms of Wilson loops, prediction of dispersion effects in the propagation of light due to the quantum structure of space-time, for his consistent discrete quantum gravity approach and for his analisys of the issue of time in quantum gravity. He has recently accomplished the first loop gravity quantization of Black Holes. He is president of the National Academy of Sciences of Uruguay; fellow of the American Physical Society; and member of the Argentinian National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences and the Latin American Academy of Sciences. He has won the Gravity Research Foundation Prize three times and the TWAS prize in 2003.
